Sylvania, Nevada

Silver-lead was discovered in the area back in 1869 and a few years later mining began and a mining camp sprang to live. Stores, bars, and even a Hooters could be found on the main street. A general store was said to have operated here owned by Chris Zabriskie of Death Valley borax fame. The town site and nearby mines were later purchased by W.D. Clair, the same fellow who reworked the Ratcliff Mine up in Pleasant Canyon out in the Panamint Mountains.
