The Argentite Mining District dates back to the 1920's. The district was known for silver, but the main mine of the area produced both gold and silver and was quite active in the 1950's with many references to it in "Desert Magazine".
  We found no Post Office, General Store, Jeep Dealership, or Saloon, hell not even a Starbucks! No wonder this place was deserted.
